Within The Fall: Συνεντευξη στο Metal View (ENG)

-Firstly,thank you,who accepted to do this interview, are you a band which is since 2010,right?

Joakim: Thanks for wanting to interview us! The band was formed in 2010, yes.

-What influences has the band, who are your favorite musicians?

Joakim: We have many different influences, but some of the main ones are Katatonia, Doom:VS and Ahab to name a few. We are also influenced by genres other than doom or metal in general of course.

-Which are your favorite themes  in lyrics?

Joakim: I can't speak for the whole band there, but for me, it's most important that the lyrics are emotive and depressive. I seldom enjoy happy lyrics!

-What is the discography of “within the fall”,do you prepare, something new for us?

Joakim: We are throwing ideas around at the moment, writing lyrics, riffs etc and see what happens basically. We have nothing to announce as of now, but there is definitely stuff happening.

-I see that your new EP “through the shadows' has the same style and themes in lyrics,it was a concept?

Joakim: Through the Shadows is indeed a concept so to speak. Every song can be viewed as a “stage” in a process of mourning when for example you lose someone in one way or another.

-Your music and lyrics, have a sad and melancholic feelings,do you believe that the real life is so cold, dark and empty nowadays?

Joakim: I think life in general is what you make of it, you can always choose to lead a happy life, you just have to work to get there.
I can't say we write dark music because we're unhappy people, it's just something that feels natural for us and the lyrics and themes themselves are an outlet for negative things that happens in life.

-What do you believe for the underground,or generally for the metal scene nowadays,is strong or not?

Joakim: I think the scene in general is pretty strong. The metal scene have never been weak really, it just lives on and on through all the dedicated fans.
As for the underground specifically, I can't tell... The underground scene in Stockholm (where I live) isn't really what it was in the 90's, haha. There's definitely a bunch of new bands showing up every now and then with lots of potential though. As long as people take the music seriously I think we'll see lots of interesting bands in the future.
A few of my friends have their own death/doom metal projects as well, so if you're interested in the genre in general you really should check them out; Soliloquium and Hadriel.

-What are the bands goals for the future?

Joakim: To keep making interesting, emotive music, and hopefully that people will enjoy it as much as we do!

-Thank you for the interview, good luck, and stay metal!!

Joakim: Thank you, keep dooming!
