Οι Order έρχονται από την Νορβηγία και το ωμό και ψυχρό ύφος της μουσικής τους συνδυάζει τον κλασικό black metal ήχο των 90s με την απόκοσμη underground ατμόσφαιρα των πρώτων συγκροτημάτων του είδους πίσω στο 80'. Το Metal View μίλησε με τον κιθαρίστα των Order, τον Anders Odden (Satyricon, Cadaver, Celtic Frost) σχετικά με το Νορβηγικό black metal παρελθόν καθώς και το παρόν και το μέλλον της μπάντας.
-Καταρχάς, πως αποφασίσατε να βάλετε σαν τίτλο του ΕΡ, το "Folly Grandeur";
Ο Messiah ήρθε με αυτόν τον τίτλο, μιας και αυτός είναι υπεύθυνος για το δημιουργικό κομμάτι, και εμείς τον υποστηρίζουμε.
-Όλα τα μέλη έχουν συνεργαστεί με γνωστές μπάντες όπως τους Mayhem τους Cadaver, τους Satyricon και τους Celtic Frost. Έχετε επηρρεαστεί από αυτές τις μπάντες;
Είναι σαφές από που ερχόμαστε καθώς είμαστε ιδρυτικά μέλη των Mayhem και των Cadaver. H μουσική είναι η συμβίωση μεταξύ των ανθρώπων που εμπλέκονται και των οργάνων τους. Δε νομίζω πως επιρεαζόμαστε από μπάντες, αλλά από άλλα πράγματα.
-Από που εμπνέεστε για τη μουσική και τους στίχους;
Προσπαθώ πάντα να συλλαμβάνω ψυχρότητα και μια ενοχλητική διάθεση στα riffs μου στην κιθάρα. Αυτό που θέλουμε είναι να βγάζουμε κάτι σκοτεινό στον ήχο μας. Είναι που θέλουμε να βρίσκουμε το ύφος που θα μας κάνει να πούμε το "ναι" και να βγάλουμε όσο πιο πολύ σκοτάδι γίνεται. Όσον αφορά τους στίχους, βρίσκουμε την έμπνευση από παντού. Η ανθρώπινη κατάσταση, η πτώση και η μισαθνρωπία ποτέ δε φαίνεται να πάει μακριά.
-Έχετε ένα κομμάτι που έχει το όνομα του Ισπανού Ιερεξεταστή Torquemada, είναι ένα κομμάτι το οποίο αναφέρεται στη ζωή του;
Το τραγούδι αναφέρεται στην Ιερά Εξέταση αλλά και στο θρησκευτικό δόγμα το οποίο αποτελεί άμεση απειλή για όλους μας στον κόσμο σήερα. Ο Μονοθεϊσμός είναι η πηγή όλων των κακών.
-Στην πρώτη μεριά του EP έχετε τα δικά σας κομμάτια, και στην άλλη μεριά κάποιες διασκευές με τον παλιό σας μπασίστα, τον Rene Jansen. Θέλατε με αυτόν τον τρόπο να αποδώσετε τιμή μετά τον θάνατο του, ή να κάνετε ένα αφιέρωμα σε αυτές τις μπάντες.
Θέλαμε να κάνουμε ένα αφιέρωμα σε αυτόν. Είναι η μόνη πλήρης εγγραφή που έχουμε μαζί του από ένα live μας στην Βαρσοβία τον Ιούνιο του 2014. Εκείνη την περίοδο είχαμε μόνο 2 δικά μας κομμάτια και όλα τα άλλα ήταν διασκευές σε κομμάτια που παίζαμε με άλλες μπάντες. Επίσης βρίσκεται και στο εξώφυλλο, και βασικά όλο το σύνολο του ΕΡ είναι αφιερωμένο σε αυτόν και την μνήμη του.
- Παρατηρώ πως προτιμάτε να κοινοποιείτε την μουσική σας με τον φυσικό παρά με τον ψηφιακό τρόπο. Είναι δύσκολο αυτό εν έτει 2016;
Oι κασέτες που βγάλαμε αποτελούν αφιέρωμα στις παλιές μέρες, που όλα ξεκινούσαν και θεωρήσαμε πως θα ήταν πολύ διασκεδαστικό.
Κρατήσαμε μόνο στην κασέτα την δεύτερη πλευρά ώστε να αναδειχθεί η πραγματική της αξία. Το υπόλοιπο είναι διαθέσιμο και για streaming στο internet. To internet είναι φανταστικό από την πλευρά της διανομής και της επικοινωνίας. Το χρησιμοποιούμε πραγματικά σαν ένα εργαλείο.
Δε νομίζω πως κάνουμε κάποιο νοσταλγικό ταξίδι, άλλωστε πιτεύω πως οι οπαδοί μας θα λάβουν ένα old-school μάθημα σε οποιαδήποτε μορφή τους αρέσει. Το underground δεν ήταν ποτέ για Hi-Fi, ήταν η κουλτούρα των outsiders.
-Θέλεις να μας πεις λίγα λόγια για την Νορβηγική σκηνή γύρω στα μέσα των 80s και τις αρχές των 90s;
Είναι πολλα που μπορούν να αναφερθούν και πολλά που έχουν ξεχαστεί. Τότε το μόνο μας ενδιαφέρον ήταν η μουσική, γιατί η Νορβηγία ήταν σαν μια βαρετή έρημο χωρίς τίποτα αξιόλογο. Για να ασχοληθούμε και να ακούσουμε metal έπρεπε να μιλάμε και να πηγαίνουμε σε πρόβες από άλλες μπάντες. Εκείνες τις μέρες δεν υπήρχαν και πολλές συναυλίες, για παράδειγμα ένα live των Darkthrone με τους Cadaver το 1990 προσέλκησε περίπου 50 άτομα στο Όσλο. όλα ήταν διαφορετικά. Οι Mayhem ηταν με το κοινό και μας ρώτησαν αν μπορούν να παίξουν και δανείστηκαν τον εξοπλισμό μας. Έπαιξαν το Freezing Moon και μερικά ακόμα τραγούδια. Τίποτα ξανά δεν θα είναι σαν αυτό, νώθω πολύ χαρούμενος που το έζησα.
-Είχατε επαφές με ελληνικές μπάντες;
Έκανα tape trading με ραδιοφωνικούς παραγωγούς και περιοδικά από την Ελλάδα.
-Έχετε πλάνα για νέο άλμπουμ;
Ναι ήδη γράφουμε κομμάτια και σκεφτόμαστε να τα ηχογραφήσουμε το φθινόπωρο. Ελπίζουμε να έχει κυκλοφορήσει μέχρι την Άνοιξη του 2017.
-Ποια είναι τα επόμενα σχέδια σας;
Ετοιμαζόμαστε να κάνουμε το πρώτο μας headline show στο Όσλο τον Οκτώβριο, όπως είπα ετοιμάζουμε την επόμενη μας δουλειά και πριν το τέλος του χρόνου μπαίνουμε στο studio.

ENGLISH VERSION
-First of all, why you decided to put " Folly Grandeur" as a title of your EP?
Billy Messiah came up with the title. Its his domain in the creative process within the band and we support him.
-All
the band members collaborated with well-known bands like Mayhem,
Cadaver, Satyricon and Celtic Frost. Have you got influences of these
bands?
As
we are the founders of both Mayhem and Cadaver its clear where we come
from. Music is being made as the symbiosis between the people involved
and their instruments. We do not think in terms of influence from bands
but from each other.
-From what things you inspire to write the lyrics and the music?
I
always try to capture a certain coldness and disturbing feeling to the
guitar riff I make. The way we describe it is in terms of movement and
how murky the sound is. Its all about finding the movements that make
you go "yes" and making it as dark as possible. Inspiration to the
lyrics in all around us. The human condition, downfall and misanthropy
never seem to go away.
-You have a song with the name of the Spanish Inquisitor Torquemada, is it mentioned in the life of this person?
The
song is about the Inquisition, but also about religious dogma and
demagogs in the world today that is a direct threat to all of us.
Monotheism is the root of all evil.
- In the A-side of your promo you have your own songs, and in the B-side
you have some covers with your ex-bassist Rene Jansen. Did you want to
pay a tribute, after his death or a tribute to all of these bands?
Yes.
Its a tribute to him. He is playing bass on that recording. Its the
only full recording of the live set we played with him in Warzaw,
Poland, June 2014. At the time we only had 2 songs on our own and the
covers are all songs we have done in other bands. He is also on the
cover art. The whole EP is dedicated to him and his memory.
-I see that you prefer to share your music with the natural, than the digital way. Is it difficult in 2016?
The
tapes we made is a tribute to the old days when we all started out. We
thought it was fun more than anything. We kept the Side B as a Tape only
so the tape would have true value. The rest of the music is out for
streaming everywhere.
The
internet is fantastic in terms of distribution and communication. We
embrace it as a tool to reach out. We do not regard what we do as a
nostalgia trip in that way. I believe that the fans out there like it
when they can get an old school sounding band in whatever format they
like. The underground was never about Hi-Fi - it was about the culture
of the outsiders.
-Can you tell us some stories from the underground era of Norwegian metal back in mid 80s/early 90s?
Its
too much to mention and too much have been forgotten. Back then we only
had this music that we could escape into and Norway itself was a boring
desert of nothing. We had to go to other bands rehearsals to see and
hear metal. There was not many shows in the early days. In early 1990
Cadaver and Darkthrone pulled about 50 people at a show in Oslo.
It
was totally different back then. Mayhem was in the audience and asked
if they could play some songs and borrowed our gear to do so. They
played Freezing Moon and a few other tracks. It was just something that
happened there and then. It would never be like this again and I am
happy that I was a part of it all.
- Had you contact with greek extreme metal bands those years?
I was tape trading with some greek radio guy and some magazines.
- Have you plans for a new album?
We are writing music all the time and plan to record our album this autumn. We hope its coming out in the spring of 2017.
-What are Order next plans?
We
are looking forward to play our first headliner show in Oslo in
October. We are making new material now as I said and are gonna hit the
studio before the year is over.
